Chapter 1442: Intermission 7: Each Of Their Love Lives (7)
"I see..."
After listening to both of them talk about their relationship problems for a while, I came to one very important conclusion.
These two were absolutely terrible with women.
Not even in the normal awkward way either. It was worse than that. The moment a woman got anywhere near them, it was like their brains immediately stopped functioning properly. Their confidence disappeared, their common sense vanished, and suddenly they started acting like they were trying to defuse a bomb with shaking hands.
Honestly, it was kind of impressive.
Duncan should’ve been a little better at this too, considering he at least had some dating experience already. He literally dated Estelle before, so you’d think he’d have learned something from that relationship.
But apparently not.
Then again, maybe Estelle was just carrying the entire thing by herself while Duncan stood there looking confused half the time. The more I thought about it, the more believable that actually sounded.
"Well," I said while thinking about how to explain things in the simplest way possible, "I think the first thing both of you should do is try learning more about the woman you’re trying to impress. Like, understand what they’re interested in first, then try meeting them halfway so they won’t feel uncomfortable around you."
The two of them stayed quiet and listened carefully.
"For example," I continued, "if a girl likes flowers, then maybe learn to appreciate flowers a bit too. You don’t need to suddenly become a flower expert overnight or start writing poetry under the moonlight or some shit like that. Just try understanding why she likes them in the first place."
"I see..." Raymond nodded slowly. "I think I get the general idea."
"Do you really?" Duncan asked while frowning. "Because honestly, I still feel like I’m missing something here."
Raymond immediately looked annoyed.
"You really are slow sometimes," he said. "What Leon’s trying to say is that you need to start with the right mindset first. If you understand the perspective of the person you’re trying to woe, then your chances of getting closer to them improve naturally."
He crossed his arms before continuing.
"So basically, instead of only thinking about what you want, you should also think about what kind of person they’d actually feel comfortable around. Isn’t that what you mean, Leon?"
Honestly, Raymond had a pretty good head on his shoulders.
What he explained was mostly what I wanted to say anyway. Sure, there were still a few smaller details and missing context here and there, but I didn’t think it was necessary to overexplain everything.
If I went too deep into it, Duncan’s brain would probably start smoking.
"Yeah," I said with a nod. "That’s pretty much it."
"I don’t know..." Duncan scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Do you really think we’d be able to gain their affection just by doing that?"
"I mean, your chances definitely won’t stay at zero," I replied. "That alone already makes it an improvement."
Raymond snorted a little after hearing that while Duncan looked mildly offended.
"I’m serious though," I continued. "You also need to understand that women can be pretty delicate when it comes to this kind of thing. If you approach them while obviously thinking, ’I want to get with this girl,’ then there’s a good chance they’ll immediately put their guard up."
Duncan slowly nodded while listening carefully.
"So don’t force things too much. Be more natural about it. Handle things carefully instead of rushing straight ahead like an idiot."
"...That last part definitely felt directed at me," Duncan muttered.
"It absolutely was," Raymond replied immediately.
"I hate both of you."
Honestly, watching these two interact was kind of funny.
They really did act like complete disasters whenever romance became the topic. Raymond at least had enough awareness to understand things quickly once they were explained to him, but Duncan genuinely looked like he was trying to solve advanced magical theory every time women were involved.
And somehow, despite all that, they were still trying.
"You really know a lot about women," Raymond said after a moment. "But considering it’s you, I guess I’m not surprised."
That honestly made me want to laugh a little.
Should I tell them that I probably didn’t understand women nearly as much as they thought I did?
Sure, I knew a lot about sex and physical relationships, but actual emotional relationships were still complicated for me too. People seemed to assume I naturally understood everything because of how I carried myself, but honestly, half the time I was just figuring things out as I went along.
My ability definitely helped.
It allowed me to notice things about people more easily, especially emotions and reactions that others might miss. Because of that, I usually had a better idea of what women were thinking compared to most guys.
But without that ability?
Honestly, I probably would’ve been scrambling around just like these two idiots, trying to act cool while secretly having no clue what I was doing.
Maybe slightly less pathetic than Duncan.
But still pathetic.
At least these two were trying to move forward instead of staying stuck forever.
That alone already deserved some respect.
A lot of people just gave up after getting rejected or after failing once or twice. Meanwhile, these two were still trying to improve themselves even after struggling repeatedly.
They were awkward, inexperienced, and kind of hopeless sometimes, but they were trying.
And honestly, that mattered more than people realized.
"Well," I said while starting to walk away from them, "if things actually work out for either of you, let me know."
The two of them looked toward me.
"I can probably give you some advice during your relationships too, assuming they actually happen. Who knows?"
Raymond chuckled a little.
"So you’re basically becoming our romance instructor now?"
"Don’t call me that. It sounds embarrassing."
"Too late," Duncan said. "You already gave us a whole lecture."
"That wasn’t a lecture."
"It definitely sounded like one."
"Then maybe you two are just stupid."
"See? That right there," Raymond pointed at me. "That confidence is exactly why women like you."
"Pretty sure insulting people isn’t attractive."
"For you it somehow works."
Honestly, I didn’t even know how to respond to that.
So instead, I just waved my hand dismissively and continued walking away from them while they kept arguing with each other behind me.
As I left, I found myself thinking that it was actually kind of nice seeing them slowly move past their issues.
People changed over time, even if it happened little by little.
And I honestly wanted to see these two improve too.
I still didn’t know whether they were seriously planning to pursue becoming magic knights in the future, but I had a strong feeling they probably would. They had the drive for it, even if they still lacked experience in certain areas.
Especially the romance department.
God help the women they fall in love with.
Still, if they became stronger, then that was a good thing.
After finishing my conversation with them, I eventually headed back toward my dorm room.
And once I got there, I went right back to continuing the threesome with my two girlfriends.
