Chapter 2189 - 2190: Trial Grounds
Chapter 2189 - 2190: Trial Grounds
"Not bad, your realm has already reached the ninth level of Spiritual Refinement."Just as he stepped out the door, Lin Chen encountered Chen Jie. At this moment, they were preparing breakfast, and upon seeing Lin Chen come out, she couldn't help but utter a surprised sound.
"It's average, but this Spirit Gathering Elixir is truly remarkable." Lin Chen smiled, praising the pill he had taken last night.
"Make more of it when possible, this way the speed of cultivation will increase!" Lin Chen added, for he was exceedingly dedicated to enhancing his strength.
"That's wishful thinking, you only need to take this elixir once. Taking it repeatedly won't have much effect. Instead, it'll waste a lot of time searching for herbs. It's better to focus on diligent cultivation." Chen Jie said with a hint of exasperation.
"Alas."
Lin Chen sighed, then quickly became relieved. If this kind of pill could be used endlessly, there wouldn't be any work left for Lin Chen. Such raw materials would have long been completely extracted.
Though somewhat disappointed, Lin Chen still perked up his spirits, understanding that those were ultimately just external aids.
"Once you finish eating, head to the training ground. I'll teach her the basics."
Chen Jie stroked Meng Shan's head and spoke with apparent fondness for the girl before her.
"Very well."
Lin Chen and Sun Tianming nodded, allowing the three to train elsewhere while Lin Chen and Sun Tianming proceeded to the training ground.
...
Hurriedly finishing their meal, Lin Chen and Sun Tianming wasted no time and set off for the training ground.
It was located on a solitary mountain peak, separated by a cliff spanning a hundred zhang. Beneath it lay a deep abyss, shrouded in mist, its depths impossible to discern. On this side of the cliff stood a massive light curtain, emitting a pure white glow, and amidst the shifting colors, figures occasionally emerged from it.
These figures varied in gender and age, but they all shared the common characteristic of being disciples of the Green Ripple Sect.
"That's the training ground."
Sun Tianming pointed to the high peak across the cliff. Lin Chen followed his direction, but the surrounding mist made it difficult for him to discern the vastness of the area.
"How do we get across?" Lin Chen wondered, realizing he had no wings.
"Come."
Sun Tianming led Lin Chen to the enormous light curtain, then handed a few spirit stones to a disciple who was overseeing the pure white curtain, and then proceeded forward with Lin Chen.
Though perplexed, Lin Chen was not afraid; he merely marveled at the scene before him.
As he stepped onto the light curtain, his entire body was enveloped within it. Instantly feeling a relaxation sweep over him, Lin Chen suddenly seemed to be floating in mid-air.
Before him stretched a vast expanse of whiteness, obscuring the sect's landscapes. Even Sun Tianming, who had stepped in just before him, was now nowhere to be seen.
As Lin Chen furrowed his brow in concentration, the white light before him vanished, revealing a lush green scene that met Lin Chen's gaze.
"Alright, we're in the training ground now."
Beside him, Sun Tianming chuckled. Newcomers often felt puzzled upon arriving here, which was completely normal, so he was not surprised and patiently explained.
"That was a teleportation array earlier. Arrays can be used for short-distance teleportation, but they consume a tremendous amount of spiritual energy, so you must provide your own spirit stones every time. It's not easy to come here." Sun Tianming said, somewhat pained.
"An array, hm?"
Lin Chen pondered. As he explored more places, the magnificence of this world gradually unfolded before him.
"Alright, let's go. We can't waste time; time is cultivation, time is spirit stones!"
Sun Tianming mused, and then led Lin Chen forward.
Within the verdant surroundings, stone gates appeared one after another. Though these gates stood open, their interior lay submerged in a field of white, making it impossible for Lin Chen to see beyond.
"These are based on your cultivation realm. Each realm leads to corresponding stone gates, each gate leading to a separate small world where the trials take place."
"However, even though your realm has reached the eighth level of Spiritual Refinement, I advise you not to rush into the corresponding gate. It's better to start with a lower-level gate to acclimate," Sun Tianming advised as they walked.
"Okay." Lin Chen nodded in agreement.
The lowest realm here was the fifth level of Spiritual Refinement, so Lin Chen followed Sun Tianming to the fifth-level gate.
Through prolonged blinking and shimmering, Lin Chen entered a narrow passage. At the far end of the passage lay a broad platform, where a spiritual body, similar in stature to Lin Chen, stood erect across from him.
To Lin Chen's amazement, the spiritual body held an ancient sword, its markings resembling the Tianyan Ancient Sword Lin Chen wielded.
"Could it replicate the appearance and attack methods of those who enter?"
Lin Chen scanned his surroundings, noticing numerous figures nearby experiencing the same situation. However, those figures confronted different entities than Lin Chen, allowing him to instantly grasp the key.
He lifted his foot to move forward and, upon doing so, felt a frown form. The situation here was truly peculiar.
As he walked, a tremendous pressure seemed to descend from above, hindering his movements significantly.
This must be the "special" Sun Tianming had mentioned earlier. Seeing this now, Lin Chen understood why he was advised to start from a lower-level gate. The peculiarities here were far beyond Lin Chen's expectations.
Deep in thought, Lin Chen soon reached the large platform.
On the expansive platform, Lin Chen faced the spiritual body, both displaying calm and indifferent countenances.
Lin Chen angled his sword, pondered briefly, then unleashed a loud cry as he stepped forward.
As he moved, his sword swept before him, creating a display of dazzling sword blossoms, spiritual energy flowing over them, advancing towards the spiritual body.
The spiritual body similarly charged forward, the two figures moving with identical precision.
With a resounding clatter, the sword collided, emitting a vibrating sound. In that moment of contact, Lin Chen's expression immediately tightened. From the spiritual body's strike, he discerned a sword skill learned from Wang Hao.
His own move had been a mere test, catching him off guard and causing a hint of unstable blood flow.
