Chapter 203: A Good Old Troll
Chapter 203: A Good Old Troll
"Breach it within a month, and I’ll give every contributor a Minor Treasure!" Brangara’s declaration heated up the gaze of everyone present at the scene. They didn’t recklessly rush forward, however, since they had to set up camp first.
One after another, a group of Wean Clansmen and Free Humans unloaded a variety of building materials and swiftly constructed a city to serve as their base of operations.
The building with the plaque of ’Potential Squad’ was also set up in the city, in the same spot it was there when the city was at the Varahan Enclave.
Torq and the rest of the Potential Squad members entered the building and took seats within. All of them donned their suits, equipped to fight.
"When a signal is made, we’ll be marching forward." FyorBuntara eyed his squad members, "Any questions?"
"What about having a stock of food and medicine?" One of the squad members asked.
"Whether it be about carrying a reserve of food rations or having a Vara Lantern with a collection of Natures for use, it all depends on you." FyorBuntara didn’t seem to restrict anything in regards to one’s preparations, "Carry and do whatever you feel increases your chance for survival."
If someone stocks up too much food, it will weigh them down. Similarly, when they fight, they will have to keep track of their goods, and ensure the goods don’t become collateral damage. It might distract and weigh down their options.
The Wean Clansman would have to constantly weigh their odds and think of what they need to carry, and at what quantity, so that they are always at their most optional state for survival.
"You have an hour to be ready for deployment." As FyorBuntara announced, most of the squad members walked out and used a pathway to enter the body of the Empyrean Tusk through its mouth and walked all the way to the biome in its liver.
While they gathered their luggage, Torq approached the border and eyed the curtain of night that stood a metre away from him. "Hmm..."
Held in his hand was a ladle, reaching a length of two metres. With an expression of curiosity, he extended the ladle into the Sandy-Grey Void and retracted instantly, seeing a pinch of grey sand within the ladle.
The grey sand rapidly ate through the ladle and increased in quantity, soon about to spill out. Torq placed the ladle right at the border, so that the grey sand would spill into the Continent.
He crouched before the ladle and watched the grey sand doing its destructive thing, "Eat well, my kids. Eat until you devour this entire Continent."
"What are you doing?" Came a concerned voice a second later.
Torq turned around and noticed Brangara standing right beside him, having landed without a stirrup in the wind, "Ancestor?"
"Tell me," Brangara focused on the ladle, "What are you doing?"
"Trying to see if I can screw over this Continent using the grey sand." Torq replied with spontaneous enthusiasm.
"I believe you’re aware it’s a Developed Continent." Brangara clicked his tongue once, "A Continent gets the prefix of Developed when all its natives reach Expert Gold Grade status. And it has enough means to defend against everything the universe can subject upon it."
Casually, Brangara pointed at the ladle that vanished. As the grey sand made contact with the soil, it rapidly ate through the soil and proliferated more of its kind, causing the area covered by the grey sand to quickly increase.
And when it had spread enough, it began to dim the column of space above the occupied area, about to plunge it into darkness. Sound too began to be dampened in this region.
"Nusantara obviously has the means to defend against something this basic." Brangara rolled his eyes and pointed at the patch of grey sand that suddenly stopped expanding anymore, as a Parute Tree had appeared in place.
The Parute Tree reached a height of a metre, still the level of a shrub. It was quickly growing, as its roots extended throughout the volume of soil that had been turned into grey sand. And then, the roots used it as nutrients to quickly grow.
As the Parute Tree rapidly grew in size, the size of the grey sand patch began to diminish automatically. Parute Trees appeared normally across the Continent and generated Parute Fruits.
The number of Parute Trees in a region is mostly related to the population of the place. In populous places, more Parute Trees appeared. And in scarcely populated areas, not even a single Parute Tree grew.
But most of all, if grey sand were to ever infiltrate the Continent and begin eating into the Continent to generate a Sandy-Grey Void pocket, Parute Trees would promptly appear at the spot and stop the grey sand’s proliferation.
Depending on the intensity of the proliferation, the number of Parute Trees appearing in the region varied. They will remain there until the forming Sandy-Grey Void is erased. And then, they will wilt, having served their purpose.
The Parute Tree grew, displaying a robustly wild vitality, as its trunk quickly expanded to a thickness of forty centimetres. It sprouted five branches in total, with the leaves having tips resembling serpents.
Hanging down from the end of each leaf tip was a Parute Fruit, shaped like a berry, pink in colour. ’The Parute Tree looks different from the ones on Sumatra. The Parute Fruit seems the same, except for the difference in its colour.’
"See," Brangara pointed at the rapidly growing Parute Tree, "Because of this, no matter what you do, the Sandy-Grey Void cannot grow in Nusan..."
Tangible Nature–Empyrean Rhully!
Tertiary Nature–Entity Sever!
A formless blade of energy slammed into the Parute Tree and rapidly aged it up, until it wilted. Parute Trees were pretty fragile in nature, wilting at the slightest impact. This attack had damaged it to the extent that, even if it were to wilt, it would take time for a new one to reappear and focus on erasing the grey sand patch.
Primary Nature–Physical Cleave!
As the Parute Tree Wilted, Torq unleashed four blades of energy in total, jet-black in colour, with veiny patterns of white like the underneath of a leaf coursing through its surface. The blades diced through the wilted Parute Tree, specifically targeting the roots to vaporise the entire structure.
He had dispersed the energy of the blades through the wilted Parute Tree upon contact, fully vaporising it. Now, there was still a small patch of grey sand remaining on the soil.
And without a Parute Tree to keep it in check, it began to expand once again. A few seconds later, a second Parute Tree grew, this time faster, since the grey sand patch had grown larger than before, enough for a dark column to appear over the patch, almost preventing sound travel.
Torq watched it grow like before, and just as the Parute Tree was about to successfully hold back the grey sand patch, he struck again.
Tertiary Nature–Entity Sever!
"..." Brangara stared at the wilted Parute Tree in pity and then gazed at Torq, "Are you trolling Nusantara?"
"Can’t I?" Torq made a puppy face in response.
