Chapter 288: The Princess of Vixeria (2)
Chapter 288: The Princess of Vixeria (2)
Just as Calen was about to run back toward the settlement, another voice suddenly called out from nearby.
"Azul!"
Everyone quickly turned toward the sound.
Roxanna had arrived at the river together with Cyrus and Luan. She was currently riding on Cyrus’s back, and judging from everyone’s expressions, it was obvious she had stubbornly insisted on coming to the river immediately after giving birth.
Her face still looked pale from exhaustion, but thanks to her healing ability, most of the damage from childbirth had already started recovering.
The moment Roxanna saw Azul holding their daughter safely in the water, her tense expression immediately trembled with relief.
"Is our baby alright?!" Roxanna asked anxiously.
The moment Cyrus stopped at the riverbank, Roxanna immediately tried to jump into the water, but Cyrus quickly grabbed her arm before she could.
"Your body is still recovering. Don’t go into the water yet," he reminded her gently.
Roxanna shot him a sharp look. "I need to see my daughter right now."
"She’s fine!" Azul finally shouted back, trying to calm her down. "She’s really fine. Our baby is safe, so don’t worry."
Azul swam closer to the riverbank with their daughter in his arms. The little girl happily flicked her tail through the water, looking completely comfortable even though she still couldn’t speak.
"See? She’s perfectly alright," Azul said softly as he carefully brought the baby closer to Roxanna, who was sitting at the edge of the river.
The moment Roxanna saw her daughter clearly, the tightness in her chest finally eased. She let out the breath she had been holding the entire time.
"She just needs water to breathe," Azul explained. "As long as we give her that, she’ll always be fine."
Slowly, Roxanna reached out her hand toward her daughter. She hesitated for a second before finally gathering the courage to gently touch the little girl’s head.
"I was really scared earlier," Roxanna admitted softly. "I’m sorry for how I acted."
"That’s alright," Cyrus said at last. "We can understand you."
After that, silence fell between them again. The only sound around them was the gentle flow of the river.
Calen had already returned to the settlement with Luan to build a pond for their daughter.
Meanwhile, Cyrus and Zeir stayed near the water, making sure both Roxanna and the baby were alright.
Then, in the middle of the quiet moment, Roxanna suddenly spoke. "We still haven’t given her a name yet!"
Azul, who was still half-submerged in the water, smiled faintly. "You should be the one to name her."
Zeir nodded in agreement. "Yes. We already decided that you should name our daughter and our future children too, since you’re the one carrying them inside your womb."
Roxanna looked at them one by one before speaking again in a softer voice. "But I don’t have any ideas..." She paused for a second before her eyes suddenly lit up. "Oh—wait. I think I have one!"
She stared at their daughter for a moment before slowly lifting her gaze to meet Azul’s eyes directly.
"Azura," she said softly.
For a second, nobody spoke. The gentle sound of the river continued flowing around them while the name lingered in the air.
"Azura..." Azul repeated under his breath, as if testing how it sounded. His blue eyes slowly softened even more. "It sounds beautiful."
[I thought he wouldn’t like it because it sounded like a lazy name...] Roxanna thought.
"Azura, the daughter of Azul."
When Roxanna said it out loud, she finally realized that it was indeed such a beautiful and perfect name for their daughter.
[Ding! Ding!]
[Congratulations, Host! Side Mission Complete: Giving Descendants to Your Husbands!]
[Reward:
- 40,000 System Coins
- High-Grade Recovery Potion ×5
- Special Item: Cradle of Tides]
Roxanna blinked in surprise as the glowing screen floated in front of her eyes, especially when she looked at the last reward.
[Special Item: Cradle of Tides]
[Description: A magical cradle blessed by the sea. Babies with aquatic bloodlines who sleep inside it will grow healthier and stronger. The cradle can also create clean water automatically.]
Roxanna’s eyes widened slightly. [This is literally made for Azura!]
The system truly treated their daughter like a precious treasure. Before she could calm down, another notification suddenly appeared in front of her.
[Ding!]
[Bonus Reward Granted!]
[Because the Host successfully gave birth to a healthy child despite dangerous circumstances, an additional reward has been unlocked.]
[Reward: Passive Skill — Mother’s Instinct]
[Description: The Host will be able to sense the physical and emotional condition of her children within a certain distance.]
For a moment, Roxanna completely froze because that skill was actually incredibly useful. Especially in a dangerous world like this, where anything could happen at any time.
[Remaining Spirit Points (SP): 402,950]
She let out a sigh of relief when she saw that her Spirit Points had almost reached 500,000 SP again.
The system hadn’t given her any other missions since it wanted her to focus on taking care of her pregnancy, but she was still able to collect that many SP from mating with her husbands.
The five of them had even made a proper schedule. Since doing it every single day probably wouldn’t be good for the baby, they agreed to only do it three times a week.
Because of that, during those two months, Roxanna managed to gain another 120 days of lifespan along with 120,000 SP.
Instead of losing lifespan because of her pregnancy, she had actually gained even more time to live.
Right now, she still had 251 days left to live, and it was more than enough time to take care of her firstborn before having another child.
Her gaze slowly softened as she looked down at little Azura, who was still happily moving her tail in the water.
[Now that I’m feeling better... that pain really was worth it,] Roxanna thought quietly.
[I’m really glad I was able to give birth to my daughter.]
===
By dusk, Calen and Luan had already finished building a small pond near their hut. They had even carried water from the river and the well to fill it completely.
"What do you think, wife?!" Calen asked excitedly, his tail almost wagging behind him. "It looks good, right?!"
Roxanna could only stand there silently for a moment. She truly hadn’t expected her husbands to finish something this big in such a short time.
The small pond looked simple, but it was clean and spacious enough for Azura to swim in comfortably. The clear water reflected the orange light of the setting sun, making the entire place feel warm and peaceful.
"You two built all of this in just a few hours?" Roxanna finally asked in disbelief.
Calen proudly puffed out his chest. "Of course! This is for our daughter!"
Meanwhile, Luan leaned against a nearby tree with his arms crossed, looking as calm as usual. "Calen did most of the digging," he said casually. "I just made sure it didn’t look ugly."
"Hey! I also carried water!" Calen quickly protested.
Luan shrugged. "And spilled half of it on the way here."
"I DIDN’T SPILL THAT MUCH!"
Watching the two of them argue instantly made Roxanna laugh softly. The exhaustion in her body suddenly didn’t feel as heavy anymore.
"Alright, stop arguing already," Roxanna reminded them with a helpless sigh. "We have a child now, so we really need to be calmer."
After hearing that, Calen and Luan finally quieted down, though Calen still looked a little unwilling to lose the argument.
Meanwhile, Roxanna decided to take the high-grade recovery pill. Almost instantly, the remaining soreness and exhaustion in her body disappeared completely, leaving her feeling much lighter than before.
Earlier, she could only squeeze out her breast milk onto large leaves to feed Azura. But now that the small pond was much calmer and safer than the river, Roxanna decided to go into the water together with her daughter.
The cool water gently surrounded her body as she carefully held Azura close to her chest.
The moment the baby was in her arms, Azura immediately latched onto her breast without hesitation. She drank eagerly, sucking a little too quickly, which made Roxanna feel a slight sting of pain.
Still, Roxanna didn’t pull away. Instead, she simply lowered her head and looked at her daughter quietly.
For Azura, this little discomfort was nothing. A soft warmth slowly filled Roxanna’s chest as she gently stroked her daughter’s damp hair. Watching Azura peacefully drinking in her arms somehow made all the pain and exhaustion from earlier feel worth it.
But even in the middle of that peaceful moment, Roxanna could still feel the intense, thirsty stares coming from her husbands nearby.
She slowly lifted her head and looked at them one by one before narrowing her eyes suspiciously.
"Don’t you have anything else to do?" she scolded them.
Azul immediately looked away and coughed awkwardly. "I-I was just making sure you and the baby were safe!"
Luan calmly leaned against the tree behind him without even trying to hide it. "I am," he replied lazily. "I’m watching my wife and child."
"That sounds more believable if you weren’t staring at my chest," Roxanna shot back instantly.
Luan did not look embarrassed in the slightest. "The baby is there."
She shook her head, whispering, "Shameless."
