Devil's Army

Chapter 1966 Occupation of Songjia Ridge

Chapter 1966 Occupation of Songjia Ridge

With the support of two Japanese Type 89 medium tanks, the 2nd Regiment of the Independent Brigade launched a surprise attack on Songjialing and captured the two outer defense lines of Songjialing in one fell swoop.

When the vanguard of the Second Regiment reached the open area at the foot of Baojia and Lianling Mountains, they were met with fierce artillery fire from the Japanese army.

The two tanks that acted as the vanguard were also destroyed by Japanese artillery.

The second regimental commander urgently ordered the vanguard to retreat to Baojiashulin to avoid Japanese artillery fire.

The Anhui Air Force of the First Army acted swiftly, quickly dispatching three fighter planes and three bombers to launch a fierce bombing and strafing attack on the Japanese artillery positions and fortifications.

Despite being bombed by its own air force, the vanguard of the 2nd Regiment launched a continuous attack on the Japanese positions at Lianling.

At that time, Chun'an County in Zhejiang Province was an important revolutionary guerrilla area in western Zhejiang, and many places in Chun'an were the activity and rest areas of the New Fourth Army.

For example, Shiban'an in Banqiao Village, Wangfu Township, is located deep in the mountains and adjacent to the border between Anhui and Zhejiang. It was often used as a rest camp for the Southern Anhui Guerrilla Team and the New Fourth Army detachments.

When the Second Regiment was suppressed by the Japanese army in front of Lianling Mountain, fierce gunfire suddenly rang out from behind Lianling Mountain.

In order to support the Independent Brigade of the First Army, the Southern Anhui Guerrilla Force attacked the Japanese transport convoy from behind the Lianling Mountains.

The transport team was crucial to the supply of materials to the Japanese army in Lianling Mountain. As soon as it was attacked, the commander of the Japanese division immediately dispatched troops to reinforce it.

The second regimental commander suddenly heard intense gunfire coming from behind Lianling Mountain. Although he didn't know which unit was supporting them, judging from the chaotic nature of the gunfire, it should be New Fourth Army troops or guerrillas.

And soon, the gunfire from Japanese weapons gained the upper hand.

The second regimental commander ordered the air force to rush over for support, and at the same time ordered the first and second battalions to intensify their attack on the positions on both sides of Lianling Mountain.

The Third Battalion broke through the Japanese defenses from the front, braving a hail of bullets.

With ammunition already running low, the Japanese troops at Lianling Mountain were finding it difficult to withstand the attack of three battalions of the Second Regiment.

Under the desperate cover of the First and Second Battalions, the Third Battalion finally broke through the Lianling Mountain defense line and rushed to the rear to reinforce the Southern Anhui Guerrilla Force.

When the Third Battalion arrived at the front line, the First Army's air force was already bombing the attacking Japanese troops.

The Third Battalion, which arrived at the scene, immediately launched a counterattack against the Japanese troops who had been routed by the First Army's air force bombing.

The Japanese commander of the Akita Company originally intended to take down the Anhui guerrillas' blocking line in one fell swoop, but unexpectedly, he was attacked by the devilish air force.

Before they could recover from the bombing raids by the Devil Forces' air force, they were attacked again by the Devil Forces' fierce offensive.

With the support of the Third Battalion, the Southern Anhui Guerrilla Force held its line.

The Japanese troops at the Lianling Mountain position were unable to replenish their ammunition and supplies, making it increasingly difficult for them to resist the Second Regiment's attack.

The second regimental commander also noticed that the Japanese firepower was not as fierce as before, and ordered the first and second battalions to launch a continuous and fierce attack on the Lianling Mountain position.

The First Battalion was the first to attack the Japanese army's left-hand Lianling Mountain position and engaged in fierce hand-to-hand combat with the Japanese army.

Soon after, the Second Battalion also occupied the right flank of Lianling Mountain.

After occupying the Lianling Mountain position, the soldiers of the Second and Third Battalions did not stop and continued to advance towards Chun'an County.

Unable to withstand the onslaught, the Japanese troops in Chun'an County retreated into the county.

The Second Regiment quickly arrived at the North Gate of Chun'an County and began its attack on Chun'an County at 4 p.m.

As the Second Regiment advanced towards Chun'an County from the direction of Songjialing, the soldiers of the Third Regiment of the Independent Brigade also attacked and advanced towards Chun'an County from the ancient pass of Baijishan.
