Chapter 347 Intelligent Battlefield System

Chapter 347 Intelligent Battlefield System

The yellow smoke was shattered by a heavy running sound.

The smoke screen, which had been slowly swirling, suddenly exploded from the middle, the center of the smoke churning outwards, cleaved in two by a massive black object.

The black heavy armor gleamed matte under the lights, and the corridor floor tiles trembled with every step he took.

Captain A's eyes were bloodshot as he stared intently at the massive, running creature charging toward their position.

"Fire!!"

In fact, he didn't need to give the order. Even the blind and deaf people present could feel the overwhelming aura of death.

Almost simultaneously, the six men raised their guns, unleashing a barrage of bullets aimed directly at the black figure charging towards them.

Bullets traced long, thin white trails in the air above the corridor, their bullets striking the heavy armor with sharp, short clangs, as dense as a downpour hitting a tin roof.

Sparks bounced and burst across the surface of the heavy armor, but the bullets left no visible marks on the armor.

"Take cover! Take cover!!" Team A's captain shouted as they retreated.

He had just been advising his teammates not to over-increase the power of the brain-computer interface, but now he himself had no time to heed that warning.

The auxiliary information in the field of vision is being refreshed at an alarming rate: predicted trajectory, velocity vector, skeletal outline of the enemy model—all data is pouring in at an extremely fast speed.

His brain was processing that information while maintaining his body's movement and firing rhythm, and his temples were beginning to throb slightly.

Even under the high-powered brain-computer interface suppression, his legs still went weak in the face of that overwhelming sense of oppression.

boom! !

With a dull thud, the heavy armor, carrying immense kinetic energy, crashed head-on into the spot where the Bald Eagle squad had just been standing.

The six players from Team A and Team B rolled to the sides at the last moment to dodge, barely avoiding the center of the impact.

The immense impact ripped the entire wall off the area where their team had been standing, sending rubble and bricks flying everywhere.

In the vast dust, they saw the monster stop and slowly turn its head.

"run!!"

A simple instruction was issued to all members of the three squads simultaneously.

Squad C, located at the back of the corridor, was crouching behind the corner, exchanging fire with the prison guards in the right corridor.

Their firepower was clearly much more precise than that of the opposing side; almost every burst of fire pushed back anyone trying to peek out.

But in the brief moment when they were adjusting their firing rhythm, there was a loud bang, and then a single word of instruction suddenly came from their brains.

The captain of Squad C was stunned for a moment, and his two teammates were also looking at him. The three of them looked at each other in bewilderment.

What does this mean?

Run? Where to run? Why run?

Squad Leader C frowned, paused for a moment, then reached into his earpiece and pressed it to send a message into the public channel.

"Calling Squad A, this is Squad C, please respond. What are your instructions? Where are we to move to? Our squad is not yet clear on these instructions, please provide guidance."

Squad leader C prepared his words and finally came up with a statement that he was satisfied with, so that his team wouldn't seem too stupid to understand the instructions.

They then suppressed the enemies in the corridor while waiting quietly.

Fortunately, the enemy firepower on the other side of the corridor was not fierce, and their M4A1 rifles were able to easily suppress the enemy at this advantageous distance.

However, the opponent doesn't seem to have any intention of launching a strong attack.

A few seconds later, a static sound came through the headphones, crackling...sizzling...

The signal light came on, accompanied by a piercing static.

Da da da da da da da da!

The roar of furious gunfire came through both their headphones and in real life at the same time, startling all three members of Squad C. Only then did they realize that Squad A might be in trouble.

"I fucking said, run!!!"

The last sound was almost a roar, making C Squad's ears ache.

Squad Leader C jumped to his feet, shouting, "Quick, retreat! Team A is in trouble!"

"Where to retreat to?" The team member's question stumped Squad Leader C once again.

"Should we ask Captain A again?" suggested a member of Team C.

"No way!" Squad Leader C quickly waved his hand. "If they keep asking, it's hard to say whether we'll evacuate or not. If we go back, our superiors will definitely open our heads and experiment on us!"

One of the members of Squad C had a sudden inspiration: "Why don't we ask the brain-computer interface? Although it's a low-end version, I heard it already has an intelligent battlefield assistance system installed."

Captain C immediately crouched back behind cover and activated the system. "Hello, battlefield system?"

A clear female voice rang in my ears, "Hello, host. I am the Intelligent Battlefield System. How can I help you?"

Captain C's eyes lit up immediately. Hey, this is really good! He immediately asked a question.

"Captain A is retreating towards us, but he hasn't given us a specific route. Which way should we go? Teams A and B are ahead, and they're already in trouble. There are enemies blocking the right end of the corridor. What should we do?"

There was a pause of less than half a second on the other end of the system, then a female voice with a distinctly cheerful tone came back, "Hehe, I understand this feeling all too well. Your boss gives you a task without any beginning or end, and you don't know what to do, right?"

"Yes, yes," Captain C almost nodded in agreement, "Tell me quickly what to do now!"

"What the hell is this system doing? It's still stuck on empathy," Captain C muttered to himself.

"Okay! Next, I'll break down the retreat route for you in the most straightforward, concise, and unambiguous way possible."

"Just tell me already!" Captain C was getting angry. He always felt that the system had a strange smile in its voice when it spoke.

"Sorry, I was too long-winded. I'll just tell you the answer directly!" The system's voice sounded a little aggrieved.

"Speak up!" Captain C said impatiently.

"Take the left!" the battlefield system finally declared its decision.

Captain C didn't have time to think further. He waved to his two teammates, "Follow me! Go to the left!"

The three men immediately turned around, jumped out from behind the cover, crouched down and hugged the wall, and quickly retreated to the left.

Even after they had run a dozen meters, the system's female voice was still chattering in their ears: "Would you like me to give you a few more suggestions on how to deal with vague instructions from your boss in the workplace?"

Captain C couldn't help but curse inwardly; the voice that had sounded pleasant just moments before had now become incredibly annoying.

The good news so far is that, although we don't know what happened to Team A, the brain-computer interface shows that no one has been killed so far, which is a stroke of luck amidst misfortune.
