Chapter 568 568: Champion Selection (Part 2)
Chapter 568 568: Champion Selection (Part 2)
"Castelobruxo's champion —Diego Costa!"
A dark-skinned, curly-haired boy stood up and flashed a brilliant smile.
He looked at the nervous faces beside him and gave a thumbs-up. "I'll be waiting for you in the back—good luck!"
Headmistress Carvalho clapped enthusiastically. The boy ran over, hugged his Headmistress first, and then headed toward the room at the back of the hall.
"Arthur Faria!"
A boy with messy hair stood up, and he was tugging at his shirt as he walked down the central aisle.
"Isabela Santos!"
A tanned-skinned, curly-haired girl let out a cheer and jumped up.
Without noticing the classmate next to her who wanted to celebrate, she eagerly dashed down the aisle, caught up to Arthur at the small room's entrance and slammed into him like a cannonball, sending him through the door.
Alongside the applause in the hall, a burst of laughter erupted.
Headmistress Carvalho laughed while shaking her head helplessly.
Flames swirled as scorched parchment flew into the air and was caught by Dumbledore.
"The champion from Mahoutokoro —"
More than a dozen students in golden robes raised their heads at once, eyes filled with nervous anticipation.
"Ito Yasushi!!"
A boy with spiky hair let out a long breath and stood up, and walked as steadily as he could across the hall. When he reached the door of the small room, he turned to wait.
"Kitajima Tachibana!"
A black-haired girl who looked about seventeen or eighteen raised her head, pulled out her chair, and stepped out of the group. A few people beside her looked on with jealousy.
"Asada Chinatsu!"
A short, doll-faced girl immediately stood up, trying hard to suppress the smile on her face as she skipped lightly toward the two ahead.
"That's the thirteen-year-old student—who would've thought she'd actually be chosen..."
Wade overheard someone whispering.
Before the three had completely disappeared through the door, the Goblet of Fire continued to spew out new names.
"The champion from Uagadou," Dumbledore adjusted his glasses and held the slip farther away to make out the name: "Baboucarr Okondo!"
The applause in the hall paused slightly. Everyone stared as a man who stood two meters tall—looking kinda old—rose to his feet, and a collective gasp echoed around the room.
There were gasps from all directions.
The large man seemed used to this. He rubbed his bald head and strode toward the small room.
"Jabari Viven!"
This boy was also very tall, but the most striking thing about him was his skin color—almost pure black.
"Amina Jabri!"
This time it was a girl. Her eyebrows arched upward and her sharp eyes gave her an intelligent look. Though slender, her movements radiated a vibrant strength—like an elegant leopard.
Michael commented, "She kind of reminds me of Professor Abigail."
Anthony asked anxiously, "When is it Hogwarts' turn?"
"You'd have to ask that goblet," Michael replied.
"Koldostorez's champion—Yuri Ivanov!"
He was a boy with a bear-like build and several scars on his face. When he stood up, the applause in the hall paused again for a moment.
He silently walked forward, not looking at anyone.
"Natalia Petrov!"
"Hey, Harry!" At the Gryffindor table, Ron immediately said, "Isn't that the girl who talked to you?"
"Y-yeah…" Harry had recognized her too. He hadn't expected her to be chosen as a warrior and quickly clapped for her enthusiastically.
Natalia looked over at Harry and smiled, her eyes crinkling warmly and kindly.
Harry instinctively glanced toward the Ravenclaw table and saw Cho Chang smiling at the new champion. He couldn't help but wonder—if his name were called by Dumbledore, would he receive the same kind of smile?
"Olga Russ!"
A handsome red-haired boy stood up and, surrounded by congratulations, strode forward confidently.
"Salem's champion—"
Wade's expression paused slightly, and he glanced toward the teachers' table. He saw Antoine leaning forward a little, apparently paying close attention to which students would be chosen from his school.
However, the headmistress of Salem, a woman named Owens, wore a calm expression. Her steady gaze was focused on her students.
Wade recalled Salem Institute's history—it was originally formed by a group of witches who survived the witch hunts and banded together in secret. Later, as more and more magical children were taken in, the group gradually evolved into a school.
In the information Antoine had given him, it was once mentioned that because the founder of that Institute had experienced a very tragic past, to this day, new students at Salem Institute are required to study the most brutal parts of the witch hunts upon entering. Every year, the entire school also holds a memorial day.
It is a wizarding school built upon tragedy, and the scars of history still linger in the eyes of its teachers and students.
"Abby Williams!"
A girl with reddish-brown long hair and a pale face stood up but didn't move—she quietly waited.
"Hope Cruz!"
In a corner, a thin and quiet girl with almost no presence also stood up. Her head was lowered, and her hair hung down, nearly covering her eyes completely.
"Samuel Freeman!"
When a boy still holding a book in his hands stood up, the three of them walked toward the small room together. As they passed by Headmistress Owens, they stopped and gave a slight bow.
"Go ahead," Headmistress Owens said softly. "I'll come over shortly."
"Champion from Mantra—" Dumbledore continued in a clear voice, "Arjun Rajput!"
A brown-skinned boy stood up and looked around, ultimately deciding to wait for the other two from his school.
The seated students glanced at each other, trying not to show their anticipation and nervousness, but their hands—resting on their knees—trembled slightly.
"Priyanshu Patel!"
A boy with a high-bridged nose and deep-set eyes stood up, let out a quiet breath, then pressed his hands together and made a gesture of gratitude toward the students around him.
"Ganish Ayan!"
A boy with a soft, round face and thick eyelashes stood up. He was clearly younger than the other two, and his face showed evident delight.
The three of them walked toward the small room. Padma looked at their backs and gave a small huff through her nose, as if she was not very happy.
"What's wrong?" Michael quickly asked with concern. "Do you know one of them?"
